Here is a clip from the 1992 KISS Revenge tour I did, what a great time !

I worked on the 1995 KISS convention tour. We set up all the displays, helped the tribute bands if they needed help, and set up the band and sound gear for KISS. I teched for Eric Singer and Gene Simmons. Early on the tour Peter Criss came to a show and ended up singing with the band. This may have been when the seed was planted for the reunion tour that happened the following year. I have a clip of Peter singing “Hard Luck Woman”. Peter and the band all sounded good that day.

When I first started working for KISS in 1992 we did a club tour in the States, and then went over to the U.K. to play arenas. As plans for the Revenge stage set were not finalized, we did the shows with the stage set from the previous tour, Hot in the Shade. In the picture that’s me sitting at Erics drum kit.

In 1995 I was part of the KISS road crew, and one of the things we did that year was the Unplugged video shoot. That whole summer the band had been doing their own convention tour, and playing an unplugged show of their own, although at that time Gene was playing an electric bass, for the video shoot we had to find him an acoustic bass. I had been teching for both Gene Simmons and Eric Singer all summer, and when it came time for the shoot, I teched for Peter Criss as well. It made for a hectic work schedule, but I was just glad I could be part of it. Here is the second set of vintage KISS pictures, I posted the first set the other day. They are from an Australian promoter I worked with when KISS went to Australia in 1995.

If you have ever been on the road, you have seen Spinal Tap many times. Here is a classic clip from the movie, where they find that their new album cover is all black…

When I was on tour with KISS in Australia in 1995, the local promoters had pictures of KISS from the early days. As it was 1995, the only way to copy them was to lay them on a table and take a picure of each, which is what we did. I don’t know what gig these are from, but they are cool. I’m posting a few today and I have more to post later in the week.

Since the release of my book, “We Are The Road Crew”, I have had the good fortune to be interviewed for websites, magazines, and radio. I’ll post a few links here of  interviews I have done. Thank you to all the sites posted for their support. Ken

I know this Blog is meant to be about Rock and Roll type stuff, but I need to put something I’m feeling into words. Four years ago today, my Grandmother died, and I have never been the same. My Grandparents saved me, if not for them I would never have toured with KISS and Alice Cooper and all the other bands. At a time in my life when I needed them, they were there. My Grandparents weren’t rich, they didn’t have a big house. They were just there, always. I don’t think there’s a member of my family that didn’t live at their house at one time or another. They provided a place where you felt safe. These two people who didn’t get past the sixth grade, who had their first kid when they were still kids, they knew what was important. Family, a safe home. I miss you Nan and Grandpa, some days more than others. And today is one of those days.

This photo is one of my favorites. Toward the left you can see a cloth stretched out and hung, and microphones over it. We used to hang that scrim around the back of the drum kit to keep out drafts, I think. The drum kit and monitor were their own little world. I would be up there with Eric the whole show. You couldn’t get a better seat to see KISS every night !
